A third of Manitoba care facilities don't have sprinklers

Province says all facilities will have sprinkler systems in the next ten years


A third of the personal care facilities in Manitoba, Canada, don't have sprinklers, according to an article on the AM680 website.

Thirty-seven personal care homes in the province have no sprinkler systems. Sixty-three have full sprinkler systems, while 25 care homes have partial systems.

The province said that all of these facilities will have sprinkler systems in the next ten years. 

It was one of the recommendations of a Fire Safety Task Force launched by the province in the wake of a fire that killed 32 people at a nursing home in Quebec last year.
