Arkansas health facility launches $130 million master plan

The plan calls for changes and additions to the medical center’s Ben E. Owens Cancer Treatment Center and the Heartcare Center


St. Bernards Medical Center has launches a $130-million master plan for its Jonesboro, Ark., that calls for changes and additions to the medical center’s Ben E. Owens Cancer Treatment Center and the Heartcare Center, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

The plan includes the construction of a new surgical and intensive care tower and a new emergency department configuration and the renovation and refurbishing of the present structure.

The interior space will be reconfigured to create an atrium, improve work flow and enhanced patient experience and to allow space for continued growth.

The projected start date is spring of 2016, with completion expected in the winter of 2017.
