An inmate described as “extremely dangerous” escaped custody in a Fayetteville, N.C., hospital, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.
The patient fled Cape Fear Valley Medical Center emergency department with a police officer’s Taser and carjacked a van.
The man was in the custody of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office as he was being treated at the hospital for an undisclosed injury and was under the watch of a sheriff’s deputy at the time of his escape, the article said.
After he assaulted the deputy and stole his Taser, he ran through the hospital’s emergency room in an orange jumpsuit and leg shackles.
