Aspirus Stevens Point Campus Expands to Offer Hospital Care

Residents in the Stevens Point, Wis., area will soon have another option for hospital care from a nationally-recognized health care organization.

Aspirus Stevens Point Campus (ASPC) is building on its commitment to the region by opening an eight-bed medical/surgical inpatient unit as well as expanding its surgical services.

Opening February 19, the $3 million, 6,000-square-foot expansion will add overnight care for medical and surgical patients, including emergency patients who need to stay for observation. The ability to care for patients overnight will also enable ASPC to offer surgeries that it previously could not accommodate.

“We are very excited to announce this expansion and our continued investment in the Stevens Point community,” said Robert Smith, vice president of Aspirus Stevens Point Campus. “Aspirus continues to see an increase in patient demand, and this expansion allows us to respond to this growth and fulfill our mission to improve the health of our communities.”

The 6,000-square-foot expansion brings ASPC to a total of 81,000 square feet. In addition to the new inpatient hospital care, ASPC offers: adult and pediatric primary care, walk-in and emergency care, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, digestive care/GI, care for cancer and blood disorders, allergy/immunology care, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology, spine and neurosciences care, podiatry/foot and ankle care, audiology, diabetes care, nutrition counseling, ear, nose and throat care/otolaryngology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, urology, and pulmonary medicine.

ASPC employs 90 people and expects to add another 18 jobs – including three new Hospitalist advanced practice clinicians (APCs) – once the new expansion is complete and fully occupied.
