A man in Washington State is infected with the Wuhan coronavirus, the first confirmed case in the United States, according to an article on The New York Times website.

A woman in Chicago is the second patent in the U.S. There have been five patients reported in total as of Jan. 27. The respiratory infection has killed dozens and sickened hundreds more in Asia.

Federal officials are expanding screenings for the infection at major airports in the United States. 

Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville changed its electronic prompts so that any patients with a fever or respiratory symptoms will be asked whether they have been to China recently or have had contact with anyone who has recently traveled to China. Hospitals around the country are likely taking similar steps.
