The 13-hospital University of Maryland Medical System is now permitting one adult visitor a day for limited hours, according to an article on the Baltimore Sun website.
Before the pandemic, the system had been moving to more liberal visitation for wellness reasons.
Maryland hospitals have been adjusting policies as the pandemic eased. Most now allow a partner for a laboring mother, a parent of a hospitalized child and a caregiver for a disabled patient.
These visitors are being encouraged to stay in the hospital rather than come and go, staying with the patient or a nearby room.
Hospitals had initially implemented the restrictions at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and then loosened the rules since then, according to a recent KSAT article.. As COVID cases spike in some areas, no-visitor policies have returned.
