Beleaguered Glasgow hospital needs more staff to meet hygiene standards

Some areas could not be cleaned properly because they are awaiting repair work


The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow needs more staff to meet hygiene standards, according to Scotland's health secretary.

The official said there was a much higher than acceptable level of sickness and unfilled posts in domestic and maintenance staff, according to an article on the Scotsman website. 

A recent inspection of Scotland's biggest hospital found that some areas could not be cleaned properly because they are awaiting repair work.

The inspection of the Queen Elizabeth University hospital was ordered after patients became infected with a fungus linked to pigeon feces.
