Better cleaning and fewer antibiotics are cutting C. diff rates

Many healthcare facilities implemented stricter cleaning and infection control protocols


Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Emerging Infections Program from 2011 to 32014 has shown that Clostridium difficile infection rates are finally improving, according to an article on the Collective Evolution website.

A 9 to 15 percent decrease in C. diff incidence was fund nationally

Hospitals implement antimicrobial stewardship programs  as well as stricter cleaning and infection control protocols.

While the CDC is still in the midst of examining statistics, and won’t issue a report until later this year, the article said.
