The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) recently published a new book, “BIM for Facility Managers,” edited by Paul Teicholz.

The book, written specifically for building owners, developers and managers, discusses how building information modeling (BIM) data can be used in correlation with facility management systems to aid in more efficient building operations.

Topics covered include the guidelines for BIM in facilities management as developed by the General Services Administration, the COBie2 (BIM document standard) used to collect and communicate facility equipment information, and a list of software for BIM/FM integration.

The book also offers six case studies including the Texas A&M Health Science Center and the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

“BIM for Facility Managers” can be purchased via the IFMA bookstore
