Massachusetts regulators are asking Boston Children’s Hospital to show that its $1 billion campus expansion won’t hurt efforts to control healthcare costs, according to an article on the Boston Globe website.
The Children’s project is the largest seeking state approval. Children’s plans to build an 11-story inpatient tower at its Longwood campus and eight-story outpatient building in Brookline.
Officials told Children’s to find a qualified firm to perform a cost analysis.
The hospital’s plans are controversial because they would require building over a beloved garden. Friends of the Prouty Garden applauded state officials’ actions because it would delay the project.
