Brigham and Women's Hospital Nurses Urge Stronger COVID Safety Measures

42 patients and staff and one visitor have tested positive in hospital cluster

Registered nurses of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, are voicing concerns about how the hospital is handling an ongoing outbreak of COVID-19 cases, according to an article on the Massachusetts Nurses Association website.

The nurses say hospital executives have not effectively enforced the hospital's  visitor, masking and social distancing policies and have refused to implement safety recommendations from nurses.

The Brigham nurses are calling for a return to the hospital policy in place during the first COVID-19 surge. Visitors were restricted unless they fell under specific exemptions, such as a labor support person or someone visiting a terminally ill patient.

The hospital currently does not require visitor testing and at least one visitor has tested positive during the current cluster, according to a Boston Herald article
