A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said the number of Candida auris cases increased from 836 on Aug. 31 to 941 on Oct. 31, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership and Infection Control website.
New York reports the highest number of C. auris cases in the country with 427.
Illinois and New Jersey have 263 and 149 cases reported.
C. auris can live on surfaces in healthcare environments and cause bloodstream, wound and ear infections.
