California Hospital Weathering Supply Chain Challenges

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital’s parent company acquired stake in PPE manufacturer

Many U.S. healthcare facilities across the U.S. are again dealing with shortage of personal protective equipment, but Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, Calif., has found a way to weather the challenge, according to an article on The Union website.

Sierra Nevada’s parent company acquired a minority stake in a U.S. manufacturer of personal protective equipment.

The company manufactures face masks, N95 respirators, surgical masks and medical gowns, among other supplies.

More than 80 percent of the U.S. supply of personal protective equipment is currently imported.

Other healthcare facilities, are finding other ways to stretch the use of personal protective equipment, according to a Medical Express article. Many facilities have started self-producing PPE and test materials and reprocessing respirators in the face of shortages.
