California hospital chapel designed to recharge the spirit

Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo recently dedicated the first chapel the facility’s had in more than a dozen years

Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo, Calif., recently dedicated the first chapel the facility’s had in more than a dozen years, according to an article on the Vallejo Times Herald website.

The new chapel, a former storage space, is decorated in muted blues, grays and tans, with splashes of color in the form of a large floral bouquet and a glass-enclosed sand sculpture.

The chapel inhabits a spot that once housed medical records — a function no longer needed since the hospital switched to electronic medical records, last year.

The chapel is meant to provide “a space to spiritually recharge” for patents’ family members and friends as well as hospital employees and doctors.
