Chinese city plans to build coronavirus hospital in days

Wuhan is constructing a 1,000-bed facility with prefab buildings


The Chinese city of Wuhan is working to build a 1,000-bed hospital in just 10 days to treat victims of the epidemic, according to an article on the Guardian website.

The hospital is being built with prefabricated buildings around a vacation complex on the outskirts of the city.

China has a history of constructing hospitals at short notice in response to major health crises. 

In 2003, during the SARAS outbreak 7,000 workers in Beijing built the Xiaotangshan hospital in the northern suburbs in a week.
