Comparing the flu and the coronavirus

The flu has sickened an estimated 19 million people in the U.S. this season


The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has estimated that 19 million people in the U.S. have the flu has caused 19 million so far this season, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership and Infection Control website.

At the same time, the coronavirus has 12 confirmed cases in the U.S. 

Every state but Hawaii has reported widespread flu activity for the week ending Jan. 25.

Coronavirus has been confirmed in six states (Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington and Wisconsin), as of Feb. 3.
