Connecticut healthcare facility increases efficiency

Windham Hospital in Willimantic was recently honored for energy initiatives


Windham Hospital in Willimantic, Conn., was recently honored for energy efficiency initiatives, according to an article on the Energy Manager Today website.

The hospital installed LED lighting and a steam system and repaired its steam traps and kitchen hood controls.

Elsewhere in New England, Boston-based Mass General Hospital saved more than 5 million kWh to date through several efficiency initiatives. The hospital is saving about $560,000 annually, Fairbanks Energy said.

Twenty two lighting projects have been completed throughout Mass General’s facilities.
