Construction Dominates The Conversation At Healthcare Industry Panel Led By Michael Zetlin, Zetlin & De Chiara LLP

Hundreds of industry professionals packed the room for the seventh year running at a leading healthcare construction conference in New York City, where this year, Michael Zetlin, founding partner of Zetlin & De Chiara, presided over a panel looking at strategies for hospital growth.

The 2016 Pulse Healthcare Conference focused on facilities of the future, exploring current trends and issues in healthcare construction and design, and best practices for contractors, subcontractors, design and engineering firms working in this sector.

Mr. Zetlin said, "The healthcare industry is at a pivotal time, with the consolidation of providers taking place as New York City'spopulation continues to grow. Organizations are meeting the challenge by reconsidering their campuses and repurposing existing facilities to incorporate modern systems of medical service delivery."

Mr. Zetlin challenged his panelists, Northwell Health Assistant Vice President Donna Ryan-Rose, Hunter Roberts Construction Group Vice President - Project Executive William Allan, and Vice President of Merritt Engineering Anita Konfederak, to consider the changing paradigms in access to medical assistance and how differences between baby boomers and millennials influence their planning of healthcare facilities, whether it's downsizing or expansion.  The presenters shared their experiences working on a major healthcare facility in the area, from overall design to the work of keeping facilities functioning.

Other panels considered the future of hospitals, how the interplay between patient satisfaction and space efficiency dictates today's healthcare projects, and the tools and techniques being implemented to minimize potential disruption to operations.

The conference was presented by Commercial Observer on November 10th at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York.
