According to The News Tribuneconstruction has begun on the new Community Health Care Hilltop Health Center in Tacoma, Wash.

Building of the $26 million, 54,000-square-foot center was delayed for months due to the complexity of its financing, which includes the use of tax credits in addition to state and federal grants as well as private donations. More than $21 million dollars was raised through the tax credit program, according to The News Tribune.

Community Health Care serves low-income and uninsured patients in Pierce County, and the new center is expected to aid more than 17,000 patients annually. The facilities will include medical and dental clinics, urgent care, radiology, pediatrics, internal medicine and obstetrics.

Construction is expected to be completed in October 2013.
