Cuero Health Introduces New, Eco-Friendly Cleaning System From A San Marcos Based Company

Cuero Health has implemented a new, eco- friendly cleaning system that produces a nonhazardous, water-based, healthcare grade disinfectant and multi-surface cleaner without color, fragrance, and potentially toxic additives.

R-Water, the manufacturer of Cuero Health’s advanced cleaning system was founded by Rayne Guest, who studied the negative effects of toxic cleaning and disinfecting products.

In her efforts to protect both the environment and the public’s health, Guest developed the patented technology behind R-Water and based her business in San Marcos, Texas.

“Our mission is to reduce the spread of preventable infectious diseases, while reducing unnecessary chemical exposure risks to healthcare workers and patients. Consumers and facilities are paying a lot of money to spray volatile organic compounds in the air that can cause an extensive amount of health issues,” Guest states.

“Our disinfectant, TK60, has shown 100% effectiveness against pathogens specified for healthcare disinfection claims in 60 seconds, 10x faster than most products in the market.” Guest said. “Our general purpose cleaner, FC+, can easily replace most other cleaners based on its versatility. FC+ can be used on hard surfaces, carpets, upholstery, and virtually any material.”

R-Water’s technology produces their cleaning and disinfecting solutions by means of Guest’s patented electrolysis process. Both solutions are produced on-site through a wall-mounted device using only softened water, pure salt and electricity.

TK60 is composed of undissociated hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a highly effective germ killer, at a concentration of only .02% in 99.98% water. HOCI is what mammalian white blood cells produce to fight infection. FC+ is a dilute form of sodium hydroxide.

On-site production of these solutions also eliminates a facility’s need to store or mix hazardous chemicals and eliminates the facilities need to comply with the rigorous disposal practices OSHA and the EPA require of hazardous chemical containers.

“We have adopted this technology for all facilities of Cuero Health because R-Water addresses the need for disinfection and cleaning, while reducing chemical exposure to our patients and the environment,” says Gary Loftin, Director of Integrated Facilities Management for HHS (Hospital Housekeeping Systems) and Cuero Health.

Cuero Health partnered with HHS in 2016 to oversee housekeeping and maintenance procedures so that more advantageous, cost-saving opportunities could be found and implemented. HHS purchased and installed the R-Water cleaning system with no cost to Cuero Regional Hospital or the facilities of Cuero Health.

The new system will eliminate the cost of multiple types of disinfectants and cleaners and begin a long-term, positive impact for patients and the community’s habitat.

R-Water is now in its fourth year of operation and is patented in various other countries. Their solutions have been tested, approved, and comply with EPA, FDA, and OSHA standards. Cuero Regional Hospital becomes the first hospital in North America to adopt this cleaning technology.

Cuero Health includes Cuero Regional Hospital, Cuero Home Health, Bfit Cuero Wellness Center, Cuero Medical Clinic, Parkside Family Clinic, Yorktown Medical Clinic, Goliad Family Practice and Kenedy Family Practice.
