A disoriented 8-point buck burst through the window of a Gastonia, N.C, assisted living facility room as a resident was settling down for a nap, according to an article on the Gaston Gazette website.
The woman was taking a nap before her evening meal, and the deer appeared to have landed near the foot of her bed. The buck’s antlers had gotten tangled in the blinds on entry, and he had possibly injured his front legs.
Staff managed to get in between the deer and the resident and remove the woman without any injury.
The wounded and frightened deer left behind a mess of damaged furnishings, equipment, broken glass and spattered blood. Gastonia police officers were forced to put the animal down.
