Derry renal facility honored for environmental services

Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, Ireland, was honored in a Best Kept Healthcare Facility competition

A Derry, Ireland-based healthcare facility has been recognized for its environmental efforts at the 2014 Best Kept Health and Social Care Facility awards, according to an article on the Derry Journal website.

The renal unit at Altnagelvin Hospital was honored in the Best Kept Healthcare Facility category in the Western Health and Social Care Trust area. The competition is run by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC).

“The standard was incredibly high so each and every one of our finalists should be very proud of their achievements," said Doreen MuskettChair of the NIAC. "There’s no doubt in my mind that an aesthetically pleasing environment can have a huge impact on the health and well being of residents and visitors alike."

“A well-cared for environment makes a real difference to the well-being of service users, which is so important in a health and social care setting,” Health Minister Edwin Poots said in the article.
