Michigan regulators are reviewing whether to reopen probe

A dirty surgical tool interrupted an operation at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan one day after the state ended its probe of dirty instruments at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) health system, according to an article on the Detroit News website.

Officials with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs notified the DMC on Dec. 22, 2016, it was no longer in violation of eight health codes, concluding a three-month investigation.

DMC notified the state because after the patient's mother posted a comment on the Detroit News website complaining about the dirty instrument.
