Diversey Care Enters Development Agreement with the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC)


Sealed Air’s (NYSE: SEE) announced that its Diversey Care division has entered into a development agreement with the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Under this agreement, NREC will develop a positioning and orientation solution to be embedded within the new generation of TASKI Intellibot robotic floor cleaning machines that are projected for launch in Q2 2017.

“As we continue to evolve our robotics platform, we feel it’s critical to engage the leading robotics institution in the world to ensure our solutions continue to lead the market and drive incremental value for our customers and shareholders,” said Thomas Boscher, General Manager of Intellibot Robotics at Diversey Care. Boscher added, “We are excited to confirm the NREC project as a critical enabler to our success.”

Dr. Alonzo Kelly, Professor, Robotics Institute, said, “We are excited to work with Diversey Care and contribute to the autonomous floor cleaning segment. Our existing technology, combined with our talented team and 20 years of expertise in developing innovative robotic solutions, will help Diversey Care bring their new line of products to market faster and with improved performance. We have created autonomous solutions for all branches of the military and many for-profit industries, and we are glad to extend our reach and bring our technology to the cleaning and hygiene industry.”

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed and is not material to Sealed Air’s financial results.
