The Department of Defense (DOD) and Veterans Administration (VA) are still working out bugs with their joint healthcare facility, according to an article on the Federal News Radio website.
A report by the U.S. Government Accountability (GAO) office suggested the DOD and VA need to develop better information to monitor operations and improve efficiency.
The VA and DOD integrated their medical facilities in North Chicago as a five-year demonstration project. Their evaluation report recommended that they continue to operate as an integrated facility, while suggesting some improvements.
The GAO reviewed their report and found that it lacked specific time frames and interim milestones for making these improvements, and an updated cost-effectiveness analysis.
