The ECRI Institute released its list of Top 10 Patient Safety Concerns for Healthcare Organizations in 2018, according to an article on the Becker's Clinical Leadership & Infection Control website.
The list does not represent the most frequent or most severe issues, but identifies concerns that might be high priorities for other reasons.
New risks, existing concerns that are changing because of new technology, and persistent issues made the list.
The top patient safety issues for 2018 include:
• Management of behavioral health needs in acute care settings
• All-hazards emergency preparedness
• Device cleaning, disinfection and sterilization
• Leadership engagement in patient safety
