Eaton's LED Luminaire brings high performance, energy savings and affordability to roadways

Power management company Eaton announced the introduction of the Streetworks Verdeon™ light-emitting diode (LED) Roadway Luminaire, adding another energy-efficient product to its street lighting line. Providing all the critical requirements needed for any roadway application including high performance, long life, low maintenance and low cost, the Verdeon luminaire provides energy savings up to 50 percent when compared to standard high-intensity discharge (HID) solutions.

“Combining a low initial cost with energy savings, the Verdeon luminaire is engineered for performance and reliability,” said Mark Eubanks, president, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “It’s ideal for both retrofit and new construction projects as it can be tailored to meet specific needs without compromising on important features.”

The Streetworks Verdeon LED luminaire combines superior optical performance with a variety of control options, while featuring a unique design that is easy-to-install and maintain. Incorporating AccuLED Optics™ technology, the street light provides warm, white light with superior color rendering, while ensuring maximum pole spacing and uniformity when replacing 50- to 150-watt high pressure sodium fixtures found on most local roadways and major highway applications.

Available in a wide range of lumen packages and delivering up to 109 lumens per watt, the luminaire is offered in a standard 4000 Kelvin (K) correlated color temperature (CCT) and 70 color rendering index (CRI) with 3000K and 6000K CCT options available. An optional National Electrical Manufacturers Association 7-pin photocontrol receptacle enables wireless dimming when used with a compatible photocontrol. The product is also available with a dimming motion control option.

The Verdeon luminaire features a rugged, die-cast aluminum housing that is 3G vibration rated for exceptional durability and long term reliability. With minimal 10-year lumen depreciation, the LED luminaire operates twice as long than traditional HID fixtures. The luminaire is deliberately designed with an electrical compartment that is isolated from the LED modules in order to optimize thermal dissipation of both the LED modules and electrical components, ensuring long operating life of all the fixture components. The LEDs are enclosed in IP66 rated optics and the fixture is UL wet location listed with an IP66 housing option available.

Built with the installer in mind, the Verdeon luminaire features tool-less access to the spacious housing that easily fits lineman’s gloves. A hinged door design and quick electrical disconnects makes for easy installation and maintenance.
