Eaton’s LED Luminaire named an Edison Awards winner

Power management company Eaton announced that its Metalux™ SkyRidge™ light-emitting diode (LED) with Integrated Sensor Control System has been named a 2016 Bronze award winner by the internationally renowned Edison Awards™. The distinguished awards, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence and inventiveness, recognize innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy.

“It’s exciting to see companies like Eaton continuing Thomas Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director, Edison Awards. “Edison Awards recognizes the game-changing products and services, and the teams that brought them to consumers.”

“With changing legislation and codes, the Metalux SkyRidge LED luminaires with our Integrated Sensor Control System are optimized for occupancy detection and daylight harvesting, offering customers a stylish, energy efficient, code-based and affordable lighting solution when controls are needed or desired,” said Kraig Kasler, president, Eaton’s Lighting Division. “We are honored that our LED Luminaire and controls capabilities have been recognized for innovation by the Edison Awards.”

The SkyRidge LED luminaires feature unique aesthetics from Eaton’s WaveStream LED technology, which also provides superior optical control and efficiency, with energy savings of up to 62 percent compared to traditional fluorescent alternatives. Factory-wired to the luminaire, the integrated sensor system offers out-of-the-box operation using thoughtful default settings, switching on or off based on occupancy and dimming the light when enough daylight is available. When the application demands more, the sensor system has the option, using a remote control, to make changes to the default setting for occupancy, target light level, preset lighting levels, and more. With a single product to mount and a single electrical connection to make, customers save money on the total installed cost when occupancy and daylight harvesting controls are needed.

Edison Awards nominees are judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the nation whose votes acknowledge the winner’s success in meeting the award’s stringent criteria of quality. Eaton was recognized at the Edison Awards Annual Gala, held in in New York City on April 21.
