A Tucson Medical Center employee had just finished a shift and was putting items in her car when a man tapped her on the shoulder and shot her, according to an article on the Campus Safety website.
The hospital was placed on lockdown around 9 p.m. and officers escorted people to their vehicles in the parking garage for the rest of the night.
Hospital surveillance cameras captured the incident, which hospital officials believe is isolated.
The garage where the incident occurred was described as well-lit and “typically very safe.” But the hospital plans to increase the visibility of hospital security staff and use officers to escort people to their cars to improve safety.
