Encompass Health hosted a grand opening for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Bangor. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital is expected to begin serving patients in early October.
The hospital will provide essential rehabilitative services that help patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions regain function and independence. Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days each week, frequent physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.
Hospital amenities include private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym featuring advanced rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite, in-house dialysis suite, therapy courtyard, dining room, in-house pharmacy and dayroom areas. An interdisciplinary team of highly specialized nurses, therapists and physicians will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies to restore functional ability and quality of life.
The more than 54,000-square-foot hospital will employ approximately 160 people in the first year. Encompass Health Bangor is the company’s first wholly owned hospital in Maine. The company’s hospital in Portland, New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, is a long-standing joint venture with MaineHealth.
