Learning By Design’s distinguished fall 2017 jury of six architects and end-user’s applauded Eppstein Uhen Architects for its accomplishment in designing the Waunakee Intermediate School. All projects included in this edition are all peer-reviewed. The jury discusses and looks for in each project unique and or new concepts being implemented to improve education facility building design. Projects such as Waunakee Intermediate School are scored on six measures: Innovation, Community Need, Interior Design, Sustainability, Functional Design and 21st Century Learning.

Waunakee Intermediate School is a 700-student school where the learning environments feature enhanced flexibility for future repurposing as education continues to evolve.  A juror commented on the design, stating that, “The neighborhood/village concept and the ties to the farm community are evident.
