Staff at Sunderland Royal Hospital launched a rescue mission to help a duck and her nine ducklings find their way out of a multi-level parking structure, according to an article on the Sunderland Echo website.
The security team stopped traffic to make sure the visitors crossed the road safely after catching the birds in blankets.
The duck and her ducklings were transported to a nearby park where they were released into the water.
The security team was congratulated on the hospital's intranet site: "Well done guys! "Good to know it all ended up going ‘swimmingly’."
