A federal agency is encouraging active shooter drills for nursing homes after a deadly incident at a Chicago hospital, according to an article on the McKnights website.

An emergency room doc, pharmacist and police officer all died after a gunman opened fire at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center on the afternoon of Nov. 21. 

At least five shootings have already occurred in or around healthcare facilities this year.
