Five housekeepers at N.Y. hospital volunteered to clean COVID patients’ rooms

Volunteer cleaners say they were motivated by the patients

A team of five housekeepers at Manhattan’s NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital are being celebrated as heroes after they volunteered to clean COVID-19 patients’ rooms, according to an article on the WBTV website.

The five volunteer team members are Eugenio Mesa, Elizabeth Batista, Glenis Adames, Gustavo Borrero and Dennys Carrasco and they said they were happy to play an important role at the hospital.

"What we do is very important. I wanted to be a part of this team because I want to make a difference," Borrero said in the article.

Batista said it's the patients who motivate her. “I put myself in patients’ shoes. And that’s what I have in my mind. I’ve got to do the best I can. As a human being, I care about the patient. We are here for them,” she said.
