Lee Memorial Health System builds its new outpatient facility in Coral Gables, Fla., with Lean principles, a first for the organization, according to an article on the Health Facility Management website.
The new Lee Physician Group’s Outpatient Center, a 27,400-square-foot facility, was also designed for flexibility, adaptability and expansion capabilities.
The project team created a structural design that maximizes workflow and patient care. They held workshops with staff to simulate flow for patient, provider, information and materials.
The Lean design substantially cut the time to design and build the outpatient center. The design took 12 to 14 days to complete and with no rework.
