Flu activity reaches a new season high

influenza-like illness levels have reached 4.8 percent


According to the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) FluView report, seasonal influenza activity has reached a new season high, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.

Influenza activity is widespread in 48 states and Puerto Rico, and influenza-like illness levels have reached 4.8 percent. 

Flu activity still remains well below what was observed last season, but this week another six flu-related pediatric deaths were reported to the CDC, bringing the total to 34.

CDC expects flu activity to remain elevated for a number of weeks.
