Franciscan hospital in Indiana finishes $11 million renovation

Healthcare facility upgrades emergency and surgery departments for possible designation at trauma center

Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer in Indiana recently gave its emergency and surgery departments an $11 million upgrade, according to an article on the Northwest Indiana Times website.

The project was designed to improve the facility's trauma-care capabilities and surgical technology.

The emergency department changes include a new triage area meant to make rooms available more quickly, three ambulance bays with a system that allows the vehicles to heat or cool without their engines running and three advanced trauma bays.

"We are in the process of carefully evaluating the opportunities and challenges of applying for trauma center designation," said Cam Adams, director of emergency services for Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer.
