Garth Brooks backs Texas Children's Hospital's renovated Child Life Zone

The area provides a fun, safe and procedure-free environment for patients and their families

Houston's Texas Children’s Hospital recently opened its renovated Child Life Zone — a fun, safe and procedure-free environment for Texas Children's inpatient population and their families, according to an article on the Medical Construction & Design website.

The project was funded through the Teammates for Kids foundation co-founded by Garth Brooks.

Originally opened in 2001, the area now features a completely renovated and expanded play space with video games, pool and air hockey. An expanded kitchen teaches about healthy lifestyles with demonstrations by the hospital's chef. The kitchen counter doubles as an arts and craft bar.

The Zone also includes an expanded production studio which offers patients the opportunity to explore and create music as a part of the hospital's music therapy program.
