Green hospital design is beginning to redefine how healthcare facilities are built to protect the environment while saving lives, according to an article on the Corporate Wellness website.

More hospital administrators are beginning request green concepts into hospital design. In fact, a report by SBI Energy suggests green building renovations will experience a significant increase.

Hospitals are exploring efficient ways to reduce the toxins and contaminants in the air throughout the facility as well as save energy and water.

The California Pacific Medical Center, for instance, uses of a low-flow plumbing system in a bid to save three million gallons of water every year.
