The Design-Build Institute of America recently announced its 21st annual Design-Build Project/Team Award winners. Recognized for exemplary collaboration and integration in Design-Build project delivery, the award-winning projects were evaluated by a panel of experts in Design-Build project delivery.

The 2016 Design-Build Project/Team Awards showcase Design-Build best practices and celebrate the achievements of owners and Design-Build teams in 10 categories across the spectrum of horizontal and vertical construction. Three healthcare projects receiving honors include:

Over six construction phases, three buildings were renovated to provide the facility’s diverse patient groups and treatment programs with a modern, safe and healing-oriented space that will serve the local community for several generations.

The project team included Swinerton Builders, Cuningham Group Architects, TTG Engineers and McParlane & Associates.

St. Luke’s Surgical & Procedural Care Expansion; Duluth, Minnesota

St. Luke’s Hospital’s ultimate goal was to bring the latest in surgical and integrated imaging technology to its patients in and around the Duluth area.

The hospital’s surgery department was expanded in the new building by adding two hybrid 1,200-square-foot operating rooms, four general surgery operating rooms (one with a DaVinci robot), one EP/IR/cath lab room, four endoscopy procedure rooms, one bronchoscopy procedure room and a café.

The project team included ERDMAN and Trumpf Medical Systems.
