Healthcare designers take a holistic approach

New research suggests many clinical design norms are hard on patients


Designers of some medical spaces are remedying stressful situations with a more comforting environment, according to an article on the Times & Democrat website.

A more holistic approach can include mood-elevating colors and artwork and chairs angled to look out windows and softer overhead lighting.

New research is showing that a lot of clinical design norms are hard on patients. 

Bright, polished floors can be slippery and create glare. Bland color schemes aren't so much soothing as uninspiring, the article said.
