Healthcare stewardship means going "green," but being “green” in a healthcare facility is more complicated than a typical business, according to a blog on the Traverse City Record Eagle website.
Michigan-based Munson Healthcare has identified green projects on its campuses. A few examples of green efforts around the system:
• Heating and cooling efforts now have more energy-efficient motors and equipment, saving significant funds for the system
• Pharmaceutical disposal at all owned hospitals involves putting outdated and unusable medications in purple containers that are properly disposed of by a licensed national contractor
