Hospitable service can improve HCAHPS scores

Environmental services can play a supportive role in the patient experience

The environmental services department underpins the quality of a patient’s overall experience, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.

The HCAHPS survey questions applicable to environmental services include:

• During this hospital stay, how often were your room and bathroom kept clean?

• During this hospital stay, how often was the area around your room quiet at night?

To make a difference in scores, facility professionals should review relevant feedback to see where improvement is needed.
