Hospital addresses security issues with window film

St. Luke's Hospital in Houston sought a long-term solution for disaster preparedness

St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston installed window film to secure its vast number of glass windows and doors during a disaster, according to an article on the Healthcare Construction + Operations website.

The facility's location on the Gulf Coast made it vulnerable to  powerful storms. St. Luke’s was often forced to relocate patients — including those in intensive care — when there was the threat of a disaster.

For facilities like St. Luke’s, window film is used as a safety and security measure. With filmed glass, breaking hazards are significantly reduced, the article said.

In addition to security, solar control window film can provide energy efficiency benefits for commercial facilities.
