Hospital explosion linked to bled gas lines

Gas lines in the boiler room may have been bled

Investigations have begun into the explosion at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville, Tex., that left two people dead and at least 15 others injured, according to an article on the CenTexProud.com.

Gas lines in the boiler room are believed to have been bled, officials said. The gas built up in the room, and a spark set off the explosion.

Coryell Memorial Hospital issued a statement following the incident:

"At 2:15 p.m. (on June 26) an explosion occurred in the new construction area in the rear of the hospital campus. Our staff immediately initiated our disaster plan; evacuated all patients, temporarily relocated assisted living and long-term care residents to other facilities and local churches. All families are being notified to their loved ones location. None of our patients, residents, or staff were injured. Our prayers are with the construction workers and their families. We are grateful for the outpouring of support from the community."
