The San Diego-area hospital that videotaped thousands of women in compromised positions to catch an anesthesiologist suspected of stealing drugs is facing a civil suit, according to an article on the Outpatient Surgery website.
The accused anesthesiologist is no longer facing theft charges.
The Sharp Grossmont Hospital's Women's Health Center in La Mesa, Calif., hired an outside firm to install small video cameras inside computer monitors that were attached to anesthesia carts in three operating rooms.
When some of the patients became aware of the videotapes, they filed a class-action civil suit against the hospital.
