Hospitals prepare for active shooter situations

All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg was built with crisis prevention in mind


All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. with violence prevention in mind, according to an article on the ABC Action News website.

When visitors enter they are required to get a badge. Before they go anywhere else, it’s double checked by a security guard before they reach the elevator.

The building also has more than 400 cameras. Once a visitor enters patient floors, they need to call or swipe a badge to get in.

The staff is trained with an  active-shooter video that teaches a three-step approach: Run, hide and fight.
