A woman turned herself in to police after allegedly stealing a newborn baby from Louisiana hospital


Hospital's surveillance cameras identified a woman stealing a baby from St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, La., according to an article on the Campus Safety website. The woman turned herself in to police after allegedly stealing the newborn.

Police say the suspect was treated at the hospital earlier in the day. 

Hospital security officers determined that the woman had left the hospital with the child by reviewing video surveillance footage.

St. Francis said appropriate security measures were in place and a lockdown was executed immediately after the theft.
