Edmonton's Misericordia Hospital's use of temporary furnaces causes air quality problems, according to an article on the Edmonton Star.
Maintenance work on furnaces at the West Annex building, which is separate from the main hospital but houses the Family Medicine Centre and several administrative departments, has forced some staff to be moved.
"We take your safety seriously, so while the work is underway, Occupational Health and Safety is closely monitoring carbon monoxide levels, temperature and humidity to ensure it is safe and comfortable for everyone working and being cared for in the area," according to a January memo to staff.
The temporary heaters were fueled by propane over the holidays but have now been switched to natural gas as the heating issues are expected to continue.
