A recent study says the difficulty in hiring and keeping security experts on staff hampers healthcare facility efforts to secure data, according to an article on the Health Data Management website.
The research found that 44 percent of healthcare organizations have not hired enough skilled security practitioners.
When hiring a qualified candidate or outsourcing aren't possible, the next best alternative is to develop and train the individuals currently on staff, the article said.
Bosting the skills and knowledge of the current staff can help compliance with regulations that mandate security training, as well as improve a facility's information security program.
